What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is designed to address the energy centers of the body. While the practice can be physical, it also challenges the mind to expand awareness. Some classes are more meditative, while others incorporate more movement patterns. Each class includes movement, meditation, and mantra, followed by a period of Savasana. Overall, it is an excellent practice for enhancing psychic abilities, intuition, clearing energy, and setting energetic boundaries.
What can I expect?
Classic Kundalini Yoga includes kriya sets, meditation with mantra, and pranayama. Mantras are generally in Gurmukhi. Traditionally, students and teachers wear white clothing and a head covering, although this is optional. Sheepskins are often used in place of or in addition to a yoga mat to block the earth's magnetic field; this is also optional. Please communicate any injuries and ask questions prior to class. All levels are welcome. After class, you are reminded to ground your energy.
Sessions begin by tuning in with the Adi Mantra:
ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO
This translates to: "I bow to the Creative Wisdom, I bow to the Divine Teacher within."
Classes close with the Mangala Charan Mantra:
Ad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Devay Nameh
This translates to: "I bow to the primal wisdom, I bow to the wisdom through the ages, I bow to the true wisdom, I bow to the great unseen wisdom."
My personal experience with Kundalini Yoga, teacher training, and White Tantric was positive; I know this has not been the case for everyone. Please note that I do not support nor agree with all the teachings or behaviors of
Yogi Bhajan.
I honor and respect survivors.
